Job Title : Process Engineer

Location : Northumberland

Salary : Competitive depending on experience

Working Hours : Full-time, Monday to Friday (early Friday finish)

Job Description

As a Process Engineer, you will play a vital role in developing and optimising manufacturing processes for high-precision microelectronic products. This varied position offers exposure to the entire product lifecycle—from new product introduction (NPI) to supporting volume production. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless process transitions, troubleshoot issues, and drive performance improvements across the shop floor.

Responsibilities

Providing day-to-day engineering support to production operations

Troubleshooting and resolving equipment and process-related issues

Commissioning and qualifying new manufacturing equipment

Creating and maintaining technical documentation such as SOPs, PFMEAs, and inspection standards

Supporting the transition of products from NPI to full-scale production

Identifying and implementing opportunities for yield improvement and efficiency gains

Liaising with customers and suppliers, which may include occasional travel abroad

Promoting a safety-first culture and ensuring compliance with HSE regulations

Skills & Experience

Essential :

Degree / HNC in Engineering or relevant equivalent experience

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

Experience with Lean principles, 8D, and Design of Experiments

Confident communicator with excellent interpersonal skills

Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver to strict deadlines

Competent in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Desirable :

Familiarity with electronics and mechanical CAD tools

Experience with chip and wire assembly, hybrid circuits, or high-reliability environments (e.g. MIL standards)

Understanding of lean manufacturing tools and statistical process controls
