Junior Network Engineer
Key Aims :
- You'll offer support to users, who can be staff, clients, customers, and suppliers, and troubleshoot any problems. In some cases, this may involve designing new networks.
- Your aim is to ensure the integrity of high-availability network infrastructure to provide maximum performance for your users.
- Although this position is primarily an engineering role, you must have a flair for sales and be able to successfully demonstrate the company's products at exhibitions and to customers as and when required.
Key Tasks :
Evaluate new networking technologies / environments, including software and hardwareMonitors the performance of networks and makes recommendations concerning network quality.Create customer and site-specific profiles and provide troubleshooting services to customers and usersEnsure network security, report on, investigate, and fix network faultsDesign network Topologies and write user and operational documentation. Provides subsequent support and training for users.Network Technologies :
You will work with a variety of network technologies, including but not limited to the below :
WANS / LANS / MANS / WLAN / SDNVoIP / CCTV / Access Control / IOT / Telecare / Telehealth SystemsVLANS / VLAN Tagging and QOSDevices attached to the above, such as Firewalls, L2 and L3 Switches, SIP-GSM Gateways, Android Devices, Linux DevicesSIP Server / ProxiesPSTN NetworksRS-485 NetworksDetailed Responsibilities :
As a network engineer, you'll need to :
Establish the networking environment by designing the system, installing of software, configuring, and testingUndertake Wi-Fi Surveys and make recommendations on where to locate access pointsDesign, implement, and project plan new solutions and improve the resilience of the current environmentMaximise network performance by monitoring performance, troubleshooting network problems and outages, scheduling upgrades, and collaborating with network architects on network optimisationUndertake data network fault investigations in local and wide area environments using information from multiple sourcesSecure network systems by establishing and enforcing policies, defining and monitoring accessSupport and administer firewall environments in line with IT security policyReport network operational status by gathering and prioritising information, and managing projects.Upgrade data network equipment to the latest stable firmware / software releasesInstalling / removing software on Linux / Android / Windows-based devices.Configure routing and switching equipment, hosted IP voice service, and firewalls.Provide remote support to on-site engineers and end users / customers. Visit the remote site where necessary.Using Wireshark and other tools to monitor TCP / IP streams where necessary.Get access to debug logs where necessaryUndertake capacity management and audit of IP addressing and hosted devices within data centres.Trace and Debug application software, especially in relation to SIP EndpointsLiaise with project management teams, third-line engineers, and service desk engineers on a regular basisSpeak to customers via email and phone for initial requirement capture.Salary and Holidays :
The starting salary will be £25 per annum based on a 37.5-hour week and will rise in accordance with experience20 Days plus Statutory Bank HolidaysCompany PensionCar Mileage Allowance when visiting remote sitesWorking Hours :
You'll typically work a standard week (Monday to Friday – 9.00 AM to 5.00 PM. However, you may be on call outside office hours, at weekends or in the evenings, and you will need to be flexible in case of major technical problems occurring.

A degree qualification in at least one of the below related subjects is required :
