Overview
The N&S CAMHS DBT Service is looking for an experienced CAMHS Clinical Specialist to join our Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) team. This is an opportunity to deliver high-quality, evidence-based DBT with young people and their parents / carers, and to be involved in research, service evaluation, teaching, supervision and consultation to other NHS teams. Responsibilities
- Provide specialist clinical input to the N&S CAMHS DBT Service's DBT-A programme, including specialist assessment, treatment planning, implementation and monitoring of outcomes.
- Deliver individual, group and phone-consultation interventions to young people and their parents / carers in adherence with the evidence-based DBT model.
- Assess and manage risk, identify safeguarding concerns, and work to support young people and families with complex histories.
- Be part of a supportive DBT consultation team and provide supervision to junior team members where appropriate.
- Provide training to other professionals on working with young people with emotion dysregulation and high-risk behaviours and on DBT more generally.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary networks (social workers, GPs, local CAMHS care coordinators) to support young people and families effectively.
- Support service-related research, service evaluation projects, and service development and improvements.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential
First level nursing qualification / registration RMN or RNLD (A) OR Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, or MSc PG Diploma or Doctorate in Counselling Psychology or equivalent nursing / family therapy / occupational therapy / social work qualification (A); OR Post Grad Diploma Specialist Training (A).Registration (or eligibility) with the HCPC as Practitioner Psychologist or equivalent professional registration with AFT, UKCP, NMC or other body (A).Training in clinical supervision (e.g., ENB998) or mentoring or equivalent experience / training (A).Desirable
Formal training in DBT / DBT-informed approaches and / or evidence-based treatments for trauma (A).Management qualification, management training, or line management experience (A).Experience
Experience of psychotherapeutic assessment and treatment for individuals with complex mental health needs and high-risk behaviours (A / I).Experience of developing and carrying out clinically focused projects (e.g., audit, service evaluation, quality improvement or research) (A / I).Desirable Experience

The Trust offers flexible working; role is typically Monday to Friday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m., with occasional variations to meet service needs. This may include early starts, later finishes, or occasional Saturdays.
