Role Overview
As a Support Worker, you will be responsible for delivering person-centred support to young people experiencing homelessness. The role involves key working, risk assessment, advocacy, and supporting clients in their journey towards independent living.
Please note : This position involves lone working.
Hours, Shifts and Contract
Hours : 22.5 hours per week
Shifts : Rota basis across Monday to Sunday
- Early : 8AM - 4PM
- Mid : 9AM - 5PM
- Late : 12PM - 8PM
- Weekends : 2 weekends out of every 4
- Contract Length : Temporary, approximately 2-3 months
- Pay : £14.17 per hour + £1.71 holiday pay = £15.88 per hour
Key Responsibilities
Hold a caseload of six key clients and conduct regular keywork sessions to develop and review individual support plansCarry out comprehensive risk and needs assessmentsAssess new referrals against project criteria, and provide feedback to unsuccessful applicantsSupport clients in preparing for independent living, ensuring appropriate support networks and resources are in placeBuild trusting, professional relationships with clients while maintaining clear boundariesEncourage and support participation in education, training, employment, and volunteeringLiaise and advocate with external agencies including local authorities, benefits agencies, and other statutory and voluntary bodiesAddress challenging behaviour in a sensitive and professional manner; document incidents appropriatelyMaintain a safe and secure environment, ensuring high standards of health and safetyManage collection of service charges and petty cash in line with policyPerson Specification
Essential Experience
Supporting young people experiencing homelessnessWorking within a residential housing projectManaging a caseload, conducting support planning, and completing risk and needs assessmentsInvolving service users in shaping the support they receiveKnowledge & Skills
