Job description

Job Title : Clinical Practitioner (Therapist)

Location : Devon / Cornwall

Salary : £31,827 - £42,436 pro-rata

Working Pattern : Part Time, Permanent (2 days per week)

Blue Sky Fostering is currently seeking a part-time qualified Therapist to join the team as a Clinical Practitioner for Attachment-based Therapeutic Work in the Devon and Cornwall areas.

Who are we?

Blue Sky Fostering is an established Independent Fostering Agency, operating across the south of England, to provide foster placements to children and young people. We have been rated Outstanding for six consecutive inspections since 2008.

We provide a number of different services including mainstream fostering for children aged 0-18 and Parent and Child Placements. We also have an established and well-regarded Therapeutic Led Care (TLC) service where our team of experienced clinical practitioners work alongside specialist foster carers to provide therapeutic care to children to prevent them from moving to residential care.

Our ethos is to provide the best service possible for children, and for all children placed with us to achieve their full potential. We work hard to ensure children experience love, care, nurture, and stability with our carers.

The Role

Blue Sky Fostering offers a fantastic opportunity for a knowledgeable and experienced Therapist to join the team as a Clinical Practitioner in Devon and Cornwall, working in conjunction with our hub in Ivybridge.

We are looking for a dedicated and dependable therapist who is drawn to this field of work. This position involves delivering the Blue Sky + TLC (Therapeutically Led Care) service, which aims to meet the needs of developmentally traumatised and poorly attached children and young people, who may be very challenging to care for.

As a Clinical Practitioner, you will support our TLC Carers with Reflective Practice (RP) work on a weekly basis, both in groups and individually. Reflective Practice provides a space for carers to express, explore, and process their emotional responses to young people; enhance their understanding of behaviours; and identify underlying feelings and needs. It also supports carers in developing empathic responses and improving their ways of being with the young person to foster connection, manage, calm, and reflect.

The successful candidate will need to work effectively with a wide range of people, personalities, and skillsets to support the delivery of the Blue Sky + TLC programme. You should have a sense of self-awareness, good relational skills, and be open-minded, flexible, and pragmatic. An interest in "what works" for these individuals at this time is essential. Resilience, enthusiasm, and a sense of humor are also important.

This role requires a desire to learn and develop, willingness to compromise, and a solution-oriented approach. To meet the needs of the Blue Sky + TLC service, you should be forward-thinking, creative, and responsive to the needs of both the young people and the carers.

Location

Willingness to travel and a valid car are essential, as the role involves supporting foster carers and visiting placements across Devon and Cornwall.

What we’re looking for

To apply, you must :

  • Hold a relevant therapeutic or counselling qualification and be a member of or eligible to register with BACP or a similar body.
  • Hold a full UK Driving Licence and have access to a vehicle.
  • Be willing to undertake an enhanced DBS check.
  • Have experience working therapeutically with children and families.
  • Understand complex developmental trauma and insecure attachment.
  • Be capable of writing therapeutic reports.
  • Be willing to work flexible hours to meet the programme’s needs.
  • Share a commitment to Equal Opportunities and improving the lives of Looked After Children.

Why work for us?

  • Generous annual leave : 28 days plus bank holidays.
  • Annual leave increases after 3 years of service, up to 12 days.
  • Paid birthday leave.
  • Good Health Days : an additional day off after no sickness in 6 months.
  • Refer A Friend scheme with monetary incentives.
  • Access to a comprehensive Employee Assistance Platform.
  • Auto Enrolment Pension.
  • Learning & Development opportunities.
  • Optional Private Healthcare Scheme.
  • Eyecare vouchers.
  • Cycle to Work scheme.
  • Optional enhanced maternity, paternity, adoption, and shared parental leave.

We aim to have a workforce that reflects the communities we serve, ensuring fair treatment regardless of race, gender, age, disability, religion, or identity. We recognize individual contributions and believe that working together can achieve equality for all.

  • Blue Sky Fostering is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable people. Successful applicants will undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service check.
