Ready Mix Concrete Plant – YARD / LOADER OPERATOR

POSITION SUMMARY

The RMC Plant Yard / Loader Operator is primarily responsible for operating a front-end loader to maintain product in the plant for continuous production in a safe and efficient manner. This role involves performing daily maintenance and safety checks of the equipment, learning proper loader operation specific to an RMC plant, and executing routine cleaning and maintenance tasks to ensure seamless operation. The operator will also handle other heavy equipment and engage in various construction-related duties.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

SAFE OPERATIONS : Operate the Loader and other heavy machinery safely and appropriately, adhering to all safety protocols.

PRODUCTION OPERATIONS : With Safety in mind, keeping the RMC plant fully stocked with materials is the top priority. This can very fast paced depending on production needs. Maintaining stock piles by pushing up newly unloaded material from aggregate haulers is also a top priority.

MAINTENANCE AND SAFETY CHECKS : Conduct daily inspections and maintenance of equipment to ensure operational safety and efficiency.

COMMUNICATIONS : Communication between yard / loader operator and batch office is extremely important through the use of 2 way radio or hand signals.

LEARNING AND ADAPTING : Learn and adapt to the specific operations of a loader in the context of an RMC plant.

ROUNTINE MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING : Perform regular cleaning and maintenance of the Loader and RMC plant which will include the use of hand tools. Must maintain the plant in a clean condition.

KNOWLEDGE OF MATERIALS : Have a good understanding of sand, gravel plant operations, and RMC plant maintenance.

BLOCK FORM OPERATIONS : Handle block form set up, pouring, knock down, stacking, and inventory management.

INVENTORY ASSISTANCE : Assist in conducting monthly inventory checks.

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS / EXPECTATIONS

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS : Capable of walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing    extensively. Able to lift / carry 50 pounds.

FLEXIBLE SCHEDULE : Availability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, based on production needs.

SAFETY CULTURE : Uphold and contribute to a consistent safety culture.

EXPOSURE TO EXTREME CONDITIONS : Be prepared for continuous exposure to extreme weather conditions and noise, and the necessity of working outdoors.

PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT : Use of proper PPE is required while on the job.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS : Effective communication skills, essential for safety around heavy equipment.

PHYSICAL ABILITY : Ability to push, turn, and pull controls, and perform all job functions as required.

HEALTH AND SAFETY COMPLIANCE : Pass a health physical including a back x-ray, hearing test, and drug / alcohol screening.

FLEXIBILITY IN TASKS : Willingness to undertake other tasks as assigned.

EXPERIENCE

• Experience in operating a front-end loader, specifically in a RMC plant environment preferred.
• Must possess a Texas Driver's License.
