We are looking for an experienced

Transport Manager

to lead the planning, delivery, and optimisation of a busy transport operation. You'll oversee a fleet of HGV vehicles, a team of drivers, and planning staff, ensuring exceptional service levels, compliance, and operational efficiency. With a significant transport budget to manage, this role offers the chance to drive improvements and deliver measurable results in a fast-paced environment.

Description of the role :

Manage the day-to-day operation of the transport fleet, ensuring agreed customer service levels are consistently achieved.

Monitor and improve fleet efficiency, focusing on planning, vehicle utilisation, and cost-effectiveness.

Maximise profitability of distribution activities through opportunities such as backloading and third-party work.

Maintain compliance with all legal, safety, and environmental regulations.

Plan and monitor vehicle maintenance to minimise downtime.

Lead, train, and develop a team of drivers, planners, and admin staff.

Produce and review transport KPIs and financial performance reports.

Drive a culture of customer service, safety, and continuous improvement.

About you :

CPC holder in Road Transport Operations (National or International).

Proven experience managing LGV fleets and distribution.

Strong leadership and team management skills.

High IT literacy and confident with transport systems and reporting.

Strong communication and decision-making skills.

Self-motivated, disciplined, and commercially aware.

Experience in the construction industry desirable.

LGV Licence.

Familiarity with regional markets and key external hauliers.
