The objectives of Maintenance Services within United Utilities are to focus on maximising equipment reliability, minimising downtime, and optimising maintenance resources to support overall operational efficiency. Our key goals include ensuring asset availability, extending equipment lifespan, reducing maintenance costs, and enhancing safety and environmental compliance. To achieve this, we develop and implement proactive strategies such as preventive and predictive maintenance. Ultimately, it seeks to align maintenance activities with business objectives, to improve productivity, and contribute to sustained organisational performance.
The Maintenance Optimisation Coordinator shall lead on providing specific maintenance technical support to operational businesses (Water Services, Wastewater Treatment, Bio-resource and Ww Network).
You will be responsible for developing and applying a standard approach to preventative maintenance across United Utilities (UU) and ensuring that continuous improvements are made for the delivery of preventative maintenance.
You will be responsible for analysing asset reliability parameters and prioritising intervention, utilising Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) to identify areas of improvement (e.g. preventative maintenance tasks, procedures, asset standards).Working with technical specialists and others you will be responsible for developing preventative maintenance tasks, utilising Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA), ensuring governance of change is completed.
You will be involved in the Maintenance Excellence Improvement Programme (MEIP), leading on improvements areas identified for preventative maintenance, and supporting other areas of the programme.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
Technical Skills & Experience
Minimum qualifications for the role will normally be proven relevant experience in a technical environment together with a professional qualification (preferably an HNC). Practical experience will also be considered.
A high level of applicable technical knowledge .
An understanding of Preventative Maintenance Optimisation.
Working Knowledge of Statutory legislation and Regulatory obligations to ensure compliance with requirements.
Familiarity with Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA).
Familiarity with Root Cause Failure Analysis techniques and processes.
Analytical skills to enable prioritisation and identification of improvement areas.
