Teaching Assistant

- Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant Qualification

Monarch Education is working with a Primary School in Smethwick to recruit a SEND Teaching Assistant (Full-Time).

\n

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in the Smethwick area of Birmingham. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 12 weeks of experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. Applicants must also hold a Level 3 Teaching Assistant Qualification or an equivalent qualification.

Key Responsibilities:

\n

\n
• Supporting pupils with SEND both in the classroom and during targeted interventions
\n
• Assisting with the development and implementation of individual Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs)
\n
• Promoting independence and confidence among pupils with diverse needs
\n
• Working closely with teachers, parents, and external professionals to support pupil progress
\n
• Supervising and managing behaviour to create a positive learning environment
\n
• Assisting with personal care and other specific needs where necessary
\n
• Encouraging and facilitating participation in learning activities
\n

Person Specification:

\n

\n
• Minimum of 12 weeks of SEND support experience within a primary school setting
\n
• Level 3 Teaching Assistant Qualification or equivalent
\n
• Strong understanding of SEND, including autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and other needs
\n
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
\n
• Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to support
\n
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team
\n
• Flexible and adaptable to the needs of pupils and staff
\n
