Role : Pastoral Support Worker

Location : Exeter

Contract : Full-time, permanent

Working Hours : 37.5 hours per week, term time only

Salary : £12.56 per hour

Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN)? We are recruiting for a Pastoral Support Worker on behalf of a highly regarded specialist education provider in Exeter.

This is an incredible opportunity to support students in overcoming barriers to learning, helping them build confidence, resilience, and essential life skills.

What you’ll be doing :

As a Pastoral Support Worker , you will play a vital role in enhancing students' emotional, social, and behavioural well-being. Your responsibilities will include :

  • Providing one-to-one and group support tailored to the needs of students with SEN
  • Identifying and addressing emotional and behavioural challenges affecting learning
  • Working closely with staff, parents, and external professionals to develop personalised support plans
  • Monitoring attendance and implementing strategies to boost student engagement
  • Ensuring safeguarding policies are upheld and responding to concerns appropriately

About You : Essential :

  • At least 1 year of experience in a similar support role, ideally working with SEN or ASD
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • A proactive, empathetic approach with problem-solving abilities
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, equality, and diversity practices
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
  • Desirable :

  • Training in areas such as ADHD, emotional literacy, or mental health first aid
  • Experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities, mental health needs, or physical disabilities
  • Familiarity with alternative employment pathways (e.g., apprenticeships, internships)
