Overview

Join them as a Procurement Partner and make your mark by shaping the future through innovative, resilient, and value-driven supplier partnerships. This is a strategic role, focused on two exciting categories based around laboratory services and equipment. You’ll work alongside world-class scientists and stakeholders across the Institute to deliver cutting-edge research through smart, sustainable procurement.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, own, and deliver category strategies.
  • Provide market intelligence and commercial analysis to support decision-making.
  • Build and maintain supplier relationships that foster collaboration, innovation, and resilience.
  • Lead sourcing projects and manage complex negotiations.
  • Act as a strategic partner to senior stakeholders.
  • Line manage Category Buyer(s), contributing to the leadership of the Procurement function.
  • Continuously improve ways of working, embedding efficiency, governance, and pragmatic solutions.

About You

You’re an experienced procurement professional with strong category management expertise, ideally in scientific or technical areas . With a proactive and solution-focused mindset, you’ll connect market insight with organisational strategy while building trusted relationships at every level.

Essential Skills

  • Proven track record in procurement / category management.
  • Strong market knowledge and ability to turn insight into strategy.
  • Expertise in supplier relationship management and value creation.
  • Skilled negotiator with experience handling complex discussions.
  • Data analysis and clear communication of recommendations.
  • Organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong understanding of commercial risk and contracts.
  • Adaptable, self-motivated, and confident in dynamic environments.
