Are you passionate about transforming lives? BRAC International, a leading non-profit organisation, is on a mission to empower people and communities facing poverty, illiteracy, disease and social injustice. Our vision is a world free from exploitation and discrimination, where everyone has the opportunity to realise their potential. We design proven, scalable solutions that equip people with the support and confidence they need to achieve their potential.
BRAC was founded in Bangladesh in 1972 and over the last five decades has grown to become one of the world’s largest non-governmental organisations (NGOs), reaching over 100 million people. It started the first international operation by venturing into Afghanistan in 2002, building on lessons from our work in Bangladesh to support a nation devastated by war. Born, proven and led in the Global South, BRAC International brings a unique Southern perspective and commitment to continuous learning, providing a depth of insight, experience and evidence to meet the needs of diverse communities with humility and courage across Asia and Africa.
BRAC International is now seeking a dynamic Regional Director, Africa, as its lead for the Africa region. We are looking for a compassionate, ambitious, feminist and impact-driven leader. Driving key aspects of our work in Africa, including driving programming scale across the region, the Regional Director will play a crucial role within the organisation. The Regional Director is responsible for leading the regional offices’ development and guiding them towards growth and long-term success. Reporting to the Executive Director of BRAC International, the role will oversee a staff cohort of 4,000+ working across Uganda, Liberia, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, Tanzania and soon in Rwanda as well as an income of $48 million in both grants and microfinance programmes.
The successful candidate will bring extensive experience in leading and implementing regional strategies, donor reporting and driving partnerships for growth, most likely gained in an international development setting. You will bring visionary and agile leadership to help shape our Africa portfolio and build our capabilities for the future. You will exhibit a strong alignment with , resilience and agility in a complex and changing environment, and the ability to build and lead strong teams. You will have strong communication skills to represent BRAC International in the region and important networks.
The next Regional Director will be a seasoned people leader with the ability to mentor and motivate teams to deliver in a highly innovative, entrepreneurial and mission-driven environment. A strategic, yet hands-on leader, the ideal candidate must display a strong commitment to BRAC’s mission and values, including promoting Southern leadership, and you will ideally bring experience of living and working in the Global South.
To apply, please submit a CV and covering letter, detailing how you fulfil the role description and personal specification quoting reference 7406. The deadline for applications is 9am BST Monday 29th July.
The role is preferred to be based out of Kenya with the ability to work across global time zones. The salary of the role will be commensurate with the seniority of the position.
