About the Role
We are seeking a full-time Research Data Manager to join the Oncogenetics Team, led by Professor Rosalind Eeles, at The Institute of Cancer Research in Sutton. This role involves providing essential administrative, data, and sample management support to ensure the smooth running of research studies within the team’s portfolio.
The successful candidate will assist with data collection, entry, storage, and analysis, as well as track biological samples, ensuring compliance with research protocols and regulatory standards. This position is ideal for someone with strong organisational skills and a passion for supporting cutting-edge cancer research.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing effective administrative and office support services.
- To maintain generic email inboxes of specific trials.
- Responsible for data entry of trial information on specific trial databases.
- To keep accurate records, maintain study documentation and input data into study-specific databases.
- To ensure adherence to protocols, regulatory compliance and data governance according to the team and organisation policy.
- Responsible for filing, maintenance and storage of trial data files (e.g. Case Report Forms for specific trials).
- To work closely with the Trial Manager / Study Coordinators to ensure smooth data management of trials.
- To communicate well with clinical teams to raise Data Clarification Requests (DCRs) and effective resolution.
- To provide data management support to the study coordinator as needed for Independent Data Monitoring & Steering Committee meetings.
- To communicate and provide information to research participants via phone, email and letters.
- To assist with the collection, processing, logging, tracking and storage of human research samples in accordance with ICR local policies and procedures.
- To assist with the organisation of research clinics (e.g., managing clinic packs and preparing files for clinicians).
About You
We are looking for someone with previous experience of working in research and handling research data. The applicant should have an excellent attention to detail and proficient IT skills, including MS office applications, and study databases ensuring accurate data entry and completion of administrative tasks. The applicant should be able to demonstrate initiative and have an ability to learn on the job. they should be a team player, who can demonstrate good communication skills for communication with patients, clinicians and colleagues. They should also be willing to further their IT knowledge learning to use various in house databases, hospital record systems and pedigree drawing software. They should be willing to receive and log human blood and saliva samples (Hepatitis B immunisation will be arranged) according to team policy. Experience / knowledge from working in a genetic / prostate cancer / research environment is desirable. The ability to work to high standards across a variety of tasks with constant regard to scientific and regulatory requirements is vital.

The Oncogenetics Team, led by Prof Rosalind Eeles, is interested in looking at the genetics of prostate cancer. It has three sub-teams working alongside each other : the lab team of scientists and clinical fellows, the data team of scientists and research data managers and administrators and the clinical team of nurses and clinical fellows.
