Step TeachersSt Albans, UKWe are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Year 2 Teacher to join a friendly Key Stage 1 team. Year 2 is a crucial year for consolidating early learning and preparing pupils for their first national assessments (KS1 SATs), and we are seeking someone who can nurture confidence, independence, and progress in every child. Beginning asap.
We welcome applications from both experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers (ECTs) with a passion for high-quality teaching and early learning.
Duties as a Year 2 Teacher :
Plan and deliver creative, engaging lessons that support academic and personal development.
Prepare pupils for the end of Key Stage 1 assessments in a supportive and stress-free environment.
Deliver effective phonics and reading interventions where necessary.
Assess, monitor and report on pupil progress accurately and regularly.
Foster a safe, caring, and stimulating classroom environment.
Work closely with teaching assistants, parents, and other staff to support individual pupil needs.
Ideal Year 2 Teacher :
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
A good understanding of the Key Stage 1 curriculum and end-of-KS1 expectations.
Experience or interest in delivering high-quality phonics teaching (e.g. using schemes like Read Write Inc or Little Wandle).
Strong behaviour management and excellent communication skills as a Year 2 Teacher.
A nurturing, flexible and reflective teaching approach.
