Caerlaverock is a stunning nature reserve situated on the north Solway coast. We are looking for someone to join our team to help raise the profile of this special, wildlife-rich nature reserve, welcome more visitors and improve on their experience.
Wilder, wetter Caerlaverock is innovative project funded by NatureScot through the Nature Restoration Fund that aims to restore wetland habitats across the reserve. By raising water levels we hope to create the right conditions for rare species such as natterjack toads, restore wetland habitats to former farmland and assess potential saltmarsh restoration. At the same time infrastructure such as fencing, water troughs and cattle handling pens are being installed to allow Caerlaverock to be manage for wildlife effectively in the future. We are looking for a dynamic person to deliver the works of the project across this striking nature reserve, changing it for the better for the future.
You will need a track record of working on similar landscape scale habitat restoration projects and practical habitat management work. This post will suit an organised and innovative person with a drive to improve landscapes for wildlife. You will have previous experience of delivering high quality habitat management projects with associated monitoring work. You will have great people skills to work with colleagues and volunteers across WWT and to secure and maintain key relationships with neighbours, graziers and contractors.
