The Role

Working within the Environmental Protection Team you will deal with an interesting range and varied scope of day-to-day work activities. You will carry out investigations into complaints relating to noise and other statutory nuisances, Anti-social behaviour, environmental crime, pest control and drainage issues. You will also support delivery of air quality improvements and private water supply regulation assisting with sampling and monitoring, and inspection, where appropriate to training and experience.

This is a regulatory role, and you must be able to demonstrate an excellent understanding of good regulatory principles which will range from written advice and warnings to implementing various regulatory interventions including drafting and serving legal notices, issuing civil penalties, and preparing cases for court proceedings.

Experience of engaging with, sympathetically responding to, and supporting all members of our communities is an essential requirement of this post. The delivery of all work will be founded on the principles of the council’s core organisational values.

This post is permanent, based at Morecambe Town Hall with hybrid working options available. The hours of work for this position are 37 per week, working Monday to Friday. There is the requirement for availability for ad-hoc operational requirements necessitating work in the early morning, evening and occasionally at weekends or on bank holidays, including the need for occasional overnight stays away from home for training courses.
