Job Title : Safeguarding OfficerLocation : Camberwell, SouthwarkEmployment Type : Permanent, Part-Time (3 days per week)Salary : £28,412 - £34,502Start Date : ASAPMLK Education Search are pleased to be supporting this specialist school that supports young girls with various needs related to SEMH and SEN, in the search for a Safeguarding Officer to start as soon as possible.Rated as a ‘Good’ school from Ofsted, they provide education, nurture and support across key stages 3 and 4 and are looking for a passionate Pastoral Assistant to join a vibrant and growing school. The role is varied, and will require an adaptable, flexible, and resourceful individual able to cope in a high-pressure environment and deal with constantly changing priorities.Due to the nature of the setting, the role can be challenging on a day to day basis, dealing with the complex emotional and behavioural needs of the students. It is essential that you have some experience of applying de-escalation strategies and where needed, positive handling / restraint techniques. However, the school will provide ongoing training.Main PurposeThe Safeguarding Officer will take lead responsibility for safeguarding and child protection across the school (including online safety).They will take part in strategy discussions and inter-agency meetings, and contribute to the assessment of childrenThey will advise and support other members of staff on child welfare, safeguarding and child protection matters, and liaise with relevant agencies such as the local authority and policeSome safeguarding activities may be delegated to deputies, but the Safeguarding Ocer will retain ultimate lead responsibility for safeguarding, child protection, Online Safety and Filtering and Monitoring processes.Desirable Experience and Qualifications : GCSE (Grade C+) or equivalent in English and MathsDegree or higher level qualification / training (desirable)A relevant safeguarding qualification (Level 3 desirable)A minimum of 2 years' experience working in a safeguarding role within school or other relevant organisationSuccessful leadership and management experience in a school or other relevant organisation (desirable)Experience of managing safeguarding in a school or other relevant organisation, including : Building relationships with children and their parents, particularly the most vulnerableWorking and communicating effectively with relevant agenciesImplementing and encouraging good safeguarding practice throughout a large teamDemonstrable evidence of developing and implementing strategies to help children and their familiesExperience of handling large amounts of sensitive data and upholding the principles of confidentialityIf you are passionate about making a difference to the lives of young people and enabling them to shape their own future, then APPLY NOW!Or alternatively, please contact me for further information : t : (phone number removed)e : (url removed)
