School Caretaker - Crosby
Location: Crosby, Merseyside
Hours: 20 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 3:00pm-6:00pm, plus 5 additional hours supporting other schools within the Trust
Pay: £17.50-£18.50 per hour
Start Date: ASAP
Driving Licence: Essential
The Role
We are looking for a reliable, proactive and hands-on School Caretaker to join our team, based primarily at one of our schools in Crosby.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the school site is safe, secure, clean and well maintained, while also providing support across other schools within the Trust for an additional 5 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Opening, securing and maintaining the school premises.
- Carrying out routine maintenance, repairs and basic DIY tasks.
- Ensuring the school site, grounds and facilities are safe and well presented.
- Undertaking health and safety and site checks.
- Responding promptly to maintenance issues and emergencies.
- Liaising with contractors and Trust colleagues when required.
- Supporting other schools within the Trust with caretaking and maintenance duties.
- Ensuring the premises are ready for staff and pupils each day.
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
- Experienced in caretaking, facilities, maintenance or a similar role.
- Practical, dependable and able to work independently.
- Well organised, proactive and able to prioritise tasks.
- Confident carrying out basic maintenance and repairs.
- Flexible and willing to support other Trust schools when required.
- A full UK driving licence holder, with access to a vehicle, as travel between Trust schools will be required.
- Committed to maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for pupils, staff and visitors.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
