This post will be based in Bradford’s Deaf & MSI Children and Young People Service, initially in the peripatetic Support Team for Deaf Children.
We are seeking to recruit a creative, innovative, and experienced Qualified Teacher with current experience of working with children who have severe and profound additional and complex needs to support deaf children and their families during their early years and in special schools.
As a Teacher of the Deaf, you will carry out the responsibilities of the role including :
- Support for special school teachers, early years settings and parents / carers in developing and managing approaches and provision for deaf children with additional needs.
- Optimising outcomes for deaf children with complex needs using a thorough understanding of special school curriculum to carry out planning, assessment, teaching, training and support for staff.
- A commitment to providing families with balanced, unbiased support and advice to enable them to make an informed choice for their deaf children
- Working in partnership with other agencies involved in services to deaf children
Applications are welcome from experienced and qualified Teachers of the Deaf. However, we would be happy to consider outstanding qualified teachers with substantial experience teaching children with severe and profound additional complex needs who are looking to develop their career in working with deaf children.
The service would be willing to support the successful candidate to undertake training to achieve the mandatory qualification.
