Leicester City in the Community has a fantastic opportunity for a Community Engagement Coach to join our dynamic team on a 12-month fixed term basis.

About The Role

Leicester City in the Community is seeking to recruit a Community Engagement Coach, who will deliver across our Premier League (PL) Kicks project and similar youth-based programmes. The role will require the successful applicant to lead delivery and engagement of the project and support administration and monitoring as required. This will include data inputting, project tracking, reporting and analysis of data to support the delivery of PL Kicks.

The projects will be primarily based in the city and county, delivering mentoring and sports coaching activities to young people and vulnerable adults. The successful candidate will report directly to the Premier League Kicks Coordinator. Premier League Kicks delivers diversionary and positive activities on behalf of the Premier League Charitable Fund.

The successful candidate for this role will have excellent communication and organisation skills, an ability to work on their own initiative, and be able to form strong, sustainable working relationships across all levels of the organisation.

Key responsibilities of the role will include :

  • Delivering coaching sessions during evenings and weekends in our Kicks provisions across venues within Leicester, including New Parks, St Matthews, Beaumont Leys, Braunstone, Eyres Monsell, Highfields, Charnwood, Blaby and Hinckley.
  • To input data across multiple programmes to track and motor the performance of the programme.
  • To provide reports based on the data frequently to the coordinator.
  • To liaise with the line manager regarding session’s success and considerations to improve participation and quality of experience to participants.
  • Mentor young people and volunteers across a weekly programme.
  • To promote participation in PL Kicks activities; encouraging a range of vulnerable & targeted young people in the community and in schools who are at risk of engaging in criminality, alcohol and substance abuse.
  • Ability to deal with challenging behaviour and follow correct reporting and referral procedures.
  • Deliver an inclusive programme of diversionary activities & educational workshops for young people with a variety of need.
  • Deliver and develop high-quality physical activity opportunities for young people aged 8-18 within targeted communities.
  • To Identify volunteers aged up to 24 years to foster a culture of volunteering, social action, and positive role models within communities.
  • To provide a fun and safe environment to coach young people and build positive relationships with participants and colleagues.
  • To safeguard the welfare of children, adults and vulnerable groups at all times.
  • To adhere to all relevant safeguarding policies and procedures and report any concerns to LCitC Designated Safeguarding Lead or Designated Safeguarding Officers in a timely manner.

Who We’re Looking For

Essential requirements for the role :

  • Hold relevant Level 2 FA qualification and / or NGB in coaching.
  • Experience of engaging with young people regularly in a community setting for at least two years.
  • Experience of delivering activity sessions to engage young people using sport in a community setting.
  • Have experience working across all levels of grassroots football.
  • Driving license & access to a vehicle or reliable transportation, with the ability to travel independently across the City and County.
  • Desirable skills / qualifications include :

  • Educated to degree level.
  • Hold a Level Two in Youth Work and / or Mentoring.
  • Contract Type – 12-month Fixed Term

    Hours Per Week – 37.5 hours, 5 days per week. (You may be required to work outside of normal office hours, at evenings and weekends).

    Location – LCitC is based at King Power Stadium, Leicester. The delivery of sessions with take place across the city / county, and some aspects of the role will require homeworking, therefore you will need the ability to travel across multiple sites across Leicester / Leicestershire.
