SEN Teaching Assistant – Primary School in Thornton (FY5)

The Role :
We're working closely with a welcoming and well-resourced primary school in Thornton that is looking to appoint a Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated 1 : 1 and small group support for pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) .
This is a full-time position , ideally starting as soon as possible , with the potential to continue for the remainder of this academic year and into September 2025.
What You’ll Be Doing :
Supporting pupils with Autism on a 1 : 1 basis and in small group settings
Assisting the class teacher with planning and delivering tailored interventions
Creating a calm, safe, and engaging learning environment
Encouraging the development of social skills, communication, and independence
Liaising with parents, carers, and external professionals where necessary
What We’re Looking For :
- Experience working with children with Autism or within an SEN setting (in a school or similar environment)
- A patient, empathetic, and flexible approach to support
- A genuine desire to help children reach their full potential
- A relevant qualification in education, psychology, or childcare is a plus – but not essential
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willing to apply for one)
