English Tutor – Alternative Provision (Durham)

We are seeking a dedicated English Tutor to join an alternative education provision in Durham, supporting small groups of students (6-8 per session) who are in Year 7 and above but may be working below expected levels for their age.

This provision supports students who are at risk of exclusion from mainstream education or have already been excluded , providing them with a tailored learning environment to help them re-engage with their education.

This is a part -time, term-time only role, offered on a temporary basis with the potential for a permanent opportunity.

Key Responsibilities :

• Deliver engaging and tailored English lessons to small groups of learners.
• Support students in developing their literacy skills and confidence.
• Adapt teaching strategies to meet the needs of students working below age-related expectations.
• Create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
• Work collaboratively with other staff to support student progress and well-being.
• Help students overcome barriers to learning and re-engage with education.
