Role Title : ALN / SEN Specialist Lecturer
Location : Deeside
Contract Type : Permanent, Full Time
Salary : £30,620 - £47,331 (Pro rata) (Upper pay range points UP2 and UP3 are subject to evidence of previous progression to Upper Pay Spine)

Overview of Role
Within the role of ALN Specialist LecturerYou will be zoned to an area of the college where you will also undertake scheduled specialist 1 : 1 and small group teaching sessions to address the additional learning needs of learners. You will also provide educational guidance, support and strategies for learners and liaise whilst giving feedback and advice to mainstream staff about ALN support in the classroom.
Your responsibilities will include undertaking screenings for specific learning difficulties and assessments for exam access arrangements, therefore it is desirable that you will already hold this qualification.
You will deliver ALN awareness training for mainstream tutors and support assistants, raising awareness of, and promoting, neurodiversity. You will also be experienced in the use of new and emerging technologies to support inclusive strategies and have a good awareness of maintaining records using management information systems.
We are looking for individuals who are creative, innovative and imaginative with proven experience in the field of Special Educational Needs. It is important that you have an awareness and understanding of the importance of inclusive standards within teaching. With this knowledge you will be able to develop and use a range of techniques to help students to become aware of their strengths and development needs.
You’ll need to be self-confident, flexible and be able to work autonomously. You will also be a strong team player who can establish effective working relationships, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and be able to identify, interpret and apply specific knowledge to practice.
Essential Requirements
- Qualified to at least Level 6 in a relevant specialist subject area
- Teaching Qualification (e.g. Cert Ed, PGCE, C&G 7407)
- Level 7 Qualification in Specific Learning Differences or similar
- PGCert in Trauma and Attachment or willing to work towards
- Knowledge of the Equality Act 2010 and Welsh and English SEN / ALN legislation
Welsh language skills are desirable for this position
