The Role
The Research Assistant will support Richard Keagan-Bull, a researcher with a learning disability, to work on the co-production part of the LeDeR programme (reviews of deaths of people with learning disabilities in England), to make the information accessible to people with learning disabilities. The role is to work alongside the researcher to help him think through difficult topics, give both practical and moral support, help him read and respond to emails, support him in planning his diary, help with producing and sending out easy-read agendas and other materials, support him in attending meetings and giving presentations, as well as other support tasks that may arise.
The Person
The post holder is a health / social care worker with experience of supporting people with learning disabilities and an interest in research. They will have excellent communication skills with a track record of communicating and engaging well with people with learning disabilities. This includes skills in easy-read written communication. They will demonstrate flair, flexibility, enthusiasm, and innovation when faced with challenges. They need to be able and willing to think and talk about difficult issues, including end-of-life, death and bereavement.
