Project ManagerAbout VertaseFLIVertaseFLI is one of the largest and most respected technically qualified remediation contractors in the UK. We encompass remediation design, all the readily available and commercially viable remediation technologies, major earthworks, groundworks, civil engineering and also landfill construction.Projects range in value from tens of thousands to multi million pounds and are undertaken all over the UK.Overview of Role as the Project ManagerThe role of Project Manager is a multi-disciplined role occupied by a senior member of staff reporting directly to the Delivery & Operations Director.The role encompasses a broad range of responsibilities associated with the technical, operational & commercial management of the business.Project managers are regularly required to fulfil the role of Project Lead alongside those of project management, this includes the provision of strong communication with the project and wider team, maintenance and motivation of the project team and the ability to demonstrate project progress to Directors and other Senior Management.Qualifications & Experience Required / Desired
- Relevant degree
- 7 years + experience in relevant field
- Member of professional or chartered body, e.g., Association of Project Management
- Relevant CSCS qualification
- Full driving licenceKey Responsibilities / Requirements as a Project Manager :
- Responsible for divided and delegating project requirements including the technical compliance, operational and commercial performance of projects whilst under your control. You will often be wholly responsible for regulatory approval for your projects.
- Devise strategies and tactics that produce a successful project, managing all the intricate details.
- Management responsibilities for your assigned project delivery team including site managers and engineers, managing them in their roles as required.
- Responsible for ensuring the project is designed and delivered in accordance with all applicable environmental legislation and company procedures.
- Ensure that the project is adhering to the necessary CDM requirements and is operated in accordance with the company health and safety standards and policies.
- Provide site-based project leadership from time to time working closely with Site Managers
- Managing contract administration (NEC, JCT, etc.), programming, supporting the commercial team in the preparation of cost forecasts and reporting.
- You are responsible for ensuring the company is always represented professionally and competently. Project Managers are responsible for identifying, nurturing and developing long-term relationships with our clients.
- Keep abreast, explore & exploit emerging remediation technologies and applicable legislation to ensure VertaseFLI remains competitive and a market leader.
- An active role in business development and contribute to the business development activities of the company.
- Working with the commercial and purchasing department to identifying suitably qualified, experienced and approved suppliers and sub-contractors and to obtain the most cost-effective rate for such works both during project delivery and all tendering stages.
- Receive and progress through the tender stage and enquiries received by the company and assess the projects in their entirety for subsequent design and pricing by you and or others.
- Design remediation schemes based on the information provided. To include close liaison with the client, client representatives, and the regulators.
- During the initial assessment and tendering stage, it is your responsibility to delegate or seek assistance from your colleagues to ensure you design the most appropriate proposal.
- Submit your proposal to the client responding to any queries and generally ‘seeing the project through’ to either a successful order or, rejection.
- May also undertake office or site based operational and environmental engineer duties from time to time.
- Develop and motivate junior staff as part of their ongoing training and to enable them to make a more positive contribution to the successful development of the company.As a manager, the above responsibilities are not exhaustive and you are responsible for ensuring the company operates efficiently at all times and for exploring and exploiting all potential opportunities to further the development and profitability of VertaseFLI.Attributes & Values
