The Nurse Educator will work in our new SCOUTS (Sickle Cell Outreach in Schools) program. Training will be coordinated with the Sickle Cell clinic team and the School Based Health team. The role involves travel to schools using a private vehicle to provide Sickle Cell care and education to patients and staff. The position is year-round with variable summer hours.
Key Responsibilities :
Conduct chronic disease follow-up visits at schools, manage medication plans, and coordinate with families and school staff.Provide family-centered care, including psycho-social support and education, and collaborate with healthcare providers.Participate in program recruitment, implementation, and educational activities, including training new staff.Stay informed of current research, contribute to evidence-based practice, and engage in professional development.Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as needed within the specialty area.Set professional objectives, evaluate progress, and mentor colleagues.Qualifications :
Bachelor of Science in Nursing required; Master’s preferred.Current Ohio RN licensure, valid driver’s license, and auto insurance.Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.Minimum 4 years of nursing experience; pediatric experience preferred.Skills :
Clinical expertise in disease management, leadership, communication, and organization skills.Physical Requirements :
