As Operations Manager, you’ll take the lead on production and quality, ensuring products are built to the right standards, on time, and within budget. You’ll manage and support a dedicated team, maintain strong health and safety practices, and always be looking for ways to make things run better. The key thing here is that you have a passion for leading teams and getting the best out of people. You need to have a real passion for people and getting the best out of them.
In this role, you’ll lead, coach, and motivate the production and quality teams to meet targets and budgets, overseeing a team of 18 direct reports. You’ll ensure products are built to the right quality, delivered on schedule, and produced at the right cost. Maintaining and improving quality systems to uphold essential accreditations will be a key part of your responsibilities, alongside driving a strong safety culture where staff and visitors consistently follow safe working practices. You’ll look for ways to cut waste and make better use of materials, using data to inform decisions and embed continuous improvement into daily operations. Keeping documentation and processes aligned with ISO and audit requirements is crucial, as is managing relationships with suppliers and vendors. You’ll also collaborate closely with colleagues across the wider group’s manufacturing operations and take on general management responsibilities when needed, stepping in for the Managing Director to help steer the business forward.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience managing production or operations in a manufacturing environment or a semi-production line background. They will be a natural leader, capable of coaching, developing, and mentoring their team, with a genuine passion for getting the best out of people. Confidence in balancing multiple priorities and staying calm under pressure is essential. A good understanding of health and safety and quality systems is required, along with comfort using ERP systems. The role demands a strong communicator and problem solver who can influence and build positive relationships at all levels. Experience as part of a senior leadership team, contributing to decisions that impact the wider business, is also important.
