Overview
Health & Safety Advisor
We are seeking an experienced Health & Safety professional with strong knowledge of UK legislation and ISO standards, capable of influencing continuous improvement, and committed to ensuring a safe, compliant, and proactive workplace. This site-based role will play a pivotal part in driving a positive health and safety culture at a key operational energy from waste facility.
Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation and development of health and safety policies, procedures, and management systems in alignment with ISO 45001 and group requirements.
- Provide professional guidance and support to site teams, conducting audits, inspections, and incident investigations to drive performance improvements.
- Monitor and report on health and safety performance, escalating risks and shortfalls to senior management as necessary.
- Chair the site Health & Safety Committee and represent the site at the UK Health & Safety Committee Forum.
- Support outage planning and execution, ensuring compliance with CDM regulations, permits, and risk assessments.
Candidate Requirements
NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety (minimum); membership of a recognised professional body preferred.Proven experience in health and safety management, ideally within the Energy from Waste, Biomass, or wider power generation sector.Strong knowledge of UK health & safety legislation, ISO standards, and best practices.Demonstrable skills in incident investigation, audit processes, and risk management.Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence at all levels.What’s on Offer
