About the role
We are now recruiting a Procurement Category Manager to manage the delivery of a consistently high quality, value for money services through a modern, resilient, customer focused procurement service.
This is a home-based role, but the successful candidate will be expected to attend office meetings, client meetings as required throughout the Northwest of England.
The role will focus on the end-to-end procurement life cycle, working with technical business stakeholders to develop the proposal, through to contract negotiation, bid evaluation, performance evaluation and contract management.
Onward has started a journey of developing best practice for contract and supplier management and there will be a great opportunity for the successful candidates to support and embed this work whilst learning and developing their skills with support from their peers and senior management. You will have access to performance and risk management software and reporting and will have the opportunity to lead some of this development across Onward and help deliver more for our customers.
We have also introduced a Social Value networking platform that has enabled us to connect businesses with our local community groups to deliver more outcomes through procurement. This comes at a great time ahead of the introduction of the new Procurement Act 2023.
We are ideally seeking a Procurement Category Manager who has a strong track record of category management across property or social housing sector focusing on investment and asset management including areas such as repairs and maintenance, retrofit and compliance management. Contracts could include a range of repairs and development frameworks from, fleet, waste, minor domestic works, and voids contracts.
Key responsibilities will include :
Procurement
Support, develop and manage the procurement of allocated categories, up to £25m, in line with internal and external regulation to enable the delivery of value for money. Working with stakeholders, project managing procurement pipeline and plans and execute sourcing, managing stakeholder expectations and category strategies.
Category Management
Provide specialist knowledge of the allocated categories ensuring value for money is delivered through new and existing commercial and contractual arrangements resulting in reduced risk and improved overall business outcomes.
Vendor Management
Implement a vendor management process to ensure a strong working relationship is in place with key vendors to ensure the business-to-business relationship is robust and managed effectively.
Negotiation
Negotiate and lead discussions, in conjunction with others if appropriate, relating to Operational Services.
