Teacher of History – Peterborough (Good School)

Location : Peterborough, Cambridgeshire

Start Date : Easter 2025

Salary : MPS / UPS (M1 to UPS3)

Contract : Full-time or Part-time, Permanent Opportunity for the right candidate

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Teacher of History to join a good secondary school in Peterborough. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate educator to inspire students, deliver engaging history lessons, and contribute to the success of a supportive and high-achieving school community.

Role Overview

The successful candidate will teach History across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the possibility of teaching Key Stage 5 based on experience. You will play a key role in fostering critical thinking, curiosity, and a passion for history among students, while contributing to the continued development of the History department.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Teach History across Key Stages 3 and 4 (with potential for KS5 teaching).
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver dynamic and engaging lessons that inspire students.
  • Assess, monitor, and report on student progress in line with school policies.
  • Support curriculum development and participate in department initiatives.
  • Create an inclusive and supportive classroom environment that nurtures student well-being.
  • Contribute to extra-curricular activities and events, fostering a love for History.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for a qualified teacher (QTS or equivalent) with a degree in History or a related subject. The ideal candidate will have experience teaching KS3 and KS4 History, with experience at KS5 being advantageous. A passion for history, critical thinking, and developing student creativity is essential, as is the ability to inspire and motivate learners.

Essential Requirements :

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Degree in History, Humanities, or a related discipline.
  • Experience teaching History at KS3 and KS4 levels.
  • Strong classroom management skills and a commitment to student success.
  • Willingness to contribute to the wider life of the school, including extracurricular activities and events.
