Job Description : SEN Primary Teacher

Location : Berkeley, Gloucestershire

Pay rate : (Apply online only) per day, dependant upon experience

Hours : Mon-Fri - Term time only, long term contract available until July 2025 initially

Spencer Clarke Group are working closely with a bespoke school for 11-16 year olds with SEMH needs in Berkeley, Gloucestershire. They aim to prepare students for life beyond school, so further education and employability is truly at the heart of the school's culture and ethos.

The main purpose of the role :

To deliver a high quality Key Stage 2 curriculum to Year 9-aged pupils, in classes no bigger than 6 students. A primary qualified teacher with SEN experience would be ideally suited for this role, although secondary teachers with SEN setting experience are welcome to apply too.

Key Responsibilities :

  • To be responsible for the day to day running of the class and assist in other relevant aspects of the day to day running of the school.
  • To assess, record and report pupils' progress according to the school's policy to monitor and foster pupils' progress in all areas of learning.
  • To take responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils according to the school's policies.
  • To lead support and supervision sessions for Assistant Teachers and Higher Level Teaching Assistants.
  • To attend and contribute to teachers' meetings and multi-disciplinary meetings.
  • To ensure a high standard of personal care for the pupils, monitoring their health and well-being.

Successful candidate qualities, qualifications and experience :

  • PGCE, QTS, Cert Ed or equivalent teaching qualification and evidence of in-service training.
  • At least 2 years Teaching Experience with completion of ECT.
  • Working knowledge of students with complex needs and SEND.
  • Evidence of sound knowledge of the Key Stage 2 National Curriculum.
  • Knowledge, understanding and experience of autism and associated co-morbid conditions.
