Environmental Manager
Location : South East / Essex / London
Salary : £55,000 - £70,000 plus car / car allowance and package
Summary
A leading tier 1 contractor in the civil engineering and infrastructure sectors is seeking an Environmental Manager to oversee a number of Highways / Energy infrastructure projects across the South East.
The Environmental Manager will be responsible for taking the lead in creating a culture of best practice environmental performance and continue to improve the sustainability of projects, whilst at the same time managing and reducing the direct impact of our activities.
The client would also concider a strong Senior Advisor looking for the next step in their careers.
Projects include highway schemes (minor and major), urban realm projects as well as work in the energy sector.
Duties
- Initiate and maintain systems to review and monitor compliance with BS EN ISO 14001 and other company / divisional standards.
- Manage and oversee monitoring equipment, collect, process and interpret data (e.g. water, dust, noise, waste)
- Manage onsite Environmental Site inspections, highlighting any bad and good practice to the relevant teams and Senior Management
- Ensure that the Project Environmental Management System is implemented and operated on site through a programme of checking and auditing.
- Record and report all incidents to all relevant parties and instigate any corrective actions required.
- Prepare monthly environmental reports for the project, including completion of company / client and divisional reporting systems data systems
- Regularly report progress (including achievements) against environmental compliance, and environmental targets to the whole team
- Develop robust and comprehensive mitigation measures to deal with environmental risks, working collaboratively with the production team
- Produce, review and update the Project Environmental Management Plan - EMP (and associated plans) on a regular basis
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and client representatives to ensure
- collaborative working relationships
Person Specification
Significant experience with either a consulting engineer, civil engineering contractor or a specialist environmental contractor.Hold Bachelor's degree / MSc (or equivalent) in a relevant environmental disciplineBroad knowledge of all aspects of environmental design and works and impacts on 3rd Parties.Experience of consents and environmental permits, discharge licences.Strong understanding of Net ZerocUnderstanding of Scope 3 carbon emissions
Knowledge of relevant UK Environment legislation and current best practice guidance;Member of IEMA Ideally chartered or working towards chartered statusAn understanding on Ecological impacts
