Applications are invited for a consultant to join our cohesive multidisciplinary Renal team based at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee. The appointee will join seven nephrologists who provide comprehensive renal care for a catchment population of approximately 450,000 covering Tayside, Perth and Kinross and North East Fife. There is no General Medicine commitment.
Dundee is the fourth largest city in Scotland. Currently undergoing a large scale riverside re-development, this vibrant university city has a well established art scene, boasting the internationally renowned Dundee Contemporary Arts Centre and the recently opened Victoria & Albert Design Museum. There are excellent transport links both north and south, as well as easy access to the rugged north east coastline of Fife and Angus, and the mountains of Highland Scotland.
Ninewells Hospital is a major teaching hospital and is co-located with University of Dundee Medical School. The Renal Department is actively involved with undergraduate and postgraduate education to which the successful candidate will fully contribute. The department is actively involved with research and there is potential for the successful candidate to pursue a research interest.
Applications from doctors with appropriate specialist training and experience who are not listed on the GMC Specialist Register can be considered for a Locum Consultant post (up to 12 months) if no substantive consultant appointment is made. Whilst in locum employment, an application to obtain a CESR / CESR (CP) and entry onto the Specialist Register can be made.
