Salary : £26,224.12 - £27,763.32 per year

Contract Type : Permanent

Position Type : Full Time

Hours : 37 hours per week

Job Description

The successful candidate will work with and provide care and support to service users with complex needs who exhibit a variety of behaviour causing concern which can pose a range of physical and emotional challenges.

Responsibilities

  • To provide direct support to service users who display behaviour that causes concern to enable them to participate in a wide range of therapeutic activities.
  • To uphold social work values and to ensure good working practice including understanding and awareness of health and safety.
  • To promote the independence and develop the skills of service users and assist with all tasks necessary to ensure positive life experiences.
  • To work positively with other agencies, parents, carers and other services to ensure a quality provision of care for service users.
  • Develop and contribute to the maintenance of service user records and support plans and act as a Keyworker when required.
  • To support the service user to maintain a clean living environment appropriate to meet each individual's needs.
  • To participate in regular and ongoing training relevant to the needs of the service users.

The Individual

  • Insight into issues in relation to working with Children and Adults with complex needs who exhibit behaviour that causes concern.
  • Willingness to undertake SVQ level 2 ( Adults ), SVQ level 3 ( CYP ) & HNC, and further training as required.
  • Ability to register with the SSSC.
  • Ability to use physical interventions when required.
  • Good Practical Skills.
  • Good Observational Skills.
  • Flexibility, Empathy and Approachability.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to remain calm in a crisis.
  • Ability to reflect on your own practice.
  • To understand your own feelings about managing behaviour which causes concern.
  • Knowledge of Social Care Values.
  • Ability to form positive relationships with service users, colleagues, parents and other professionals.
  • Sensitivity and understanding of discrimination and health and well-being issues.
  • Flexible approach to work patterns and bases and ability to work within a shift-based rota system.
  • Ability to respond appropriately in difficult or challenging situations.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of the support team and in multi-disciplinary settings.
  • Ability to use own initiative and to be self-motivated.
  • The ability to engage service users in activities and participation within their home and in the local community.
  • Ability to communicate in an open and approachable manner.
  • Ability to carry out duties that involve personal care of service users.
  • Ability to carry out moving and handling duties in line with health and safety regulation and risk assessment.
  • Ability to support service users with physical activities such as walking, swimming, hydrotherapy, etc.

    Starting Salary : £26,224.12

    13.63 per hour

    Full time and Part-time contracts available.
