Job Title : Autism Support Worker

Location : Wareham

Salary : £13.68 - £16.12 per hour (Depending on experience)

Start Date : Immediate

Contract Type : Full-time / Permanent

GSL Education are looking for an Autism Support Worker in Wareham to be that difference . In this role, you’ll have the chance to support children with autism as they develop essential skills, build meaningful relationships, and find their voice. Day-to-Day Tasks of an Autism Support Worker :

  • Offer emotional and social support to help students build friendships and connect with others.
  • Work one-on-one and in small groups with children with autism , helping them learn important life skills.
  • Help teachers create and follow learning plans that fit each child's needs.
  • Watch how students are doing and make changes to your support to help them grow and succeed.
  • Encourage and motivate students to take part in classroom activities and group tasks.
  • Monitor students’ progress and provide feedback to teachers and families to help guide their development.
  • Help children develop independent skills, encouraging them to take on new challenges.

What we need from you :

  • A real interest in helping children with autism.
  • Experience supporting children with autism , preferably in a school or similar environment.
  • Patience, kindness, and the ability to adjust your help to each child’s needs.
  • Good communication skills to work with teachers, students, and families.
  • An up-to-date CV covering the last ten years , including explanations for any gaps .
  • An enhanced DBS registered on the update service (or willingness to get one).
