Consultant in Acute Medicine
We are currently recruiting to two Consultants in Acute Medicine. The Acute care Consultant is pivotal in the department offering both clinical and team leadership. Working as part of a team of Higher Specialty trainees, Middle Grades, ACPs, Junior Doctors : GPVTS, FY2's, FY1's, and a skilled nursing team.
Those consultants who have specialist training in another specialty and have an interest in Acute medicine will also be considered. We will be keen to hear from people who have a specialist interest in ultrasound-guided procedures, specialty experience in ITU, or Respiratory medicine as we are looking at developing an enhanced care unit in AMU in the near future. For those wishing to develop their specialty interest in addition to Acute medicine, we would be willing to support your career aspirations.
What We Ask From You
Main duties of the job
The working week for a full-time Consultant is comprised of 10 Programmed Activities with 2.25 additional (PAs) each of which has a nominal timetable value of 4 hours. Typically, a consultant will spend 7.5 PAs on Direct Clinical Care (this includes 1 PA for being clinical and educational supervisor and prospective cover) with 1.5 PAs on Supporting Professional Activities and 1 PA for admin. The Acute medical team work on a rotational basis covering Ward 29 - Short stay, AMU, and Ambulatory care.
The GIM consultants post-take patients from 5pm to 9pm weekdays and 8am to 1pm, and then 5pm to 9pm on weekends.
