Teaching Assistant We are seeking Teaching Assistants to join our Special Educational Needs provision teams in both primary and secondary settings in Blackburn. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with a range of educational needs including Social, Emotional and Mental Health, Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, and behavioural challenges.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide one-to-one and small group support to students with diverse learning needsImplement behaviour management strategies consistently and effectivelyAssist class teachers in delivering differentiated learning activitiesSupport students' personal, social, and emotional developmentHelp maintain a safe, structured, and positive learning environmentRecord student progress and contribute to Individual Education Plans (IEPs)Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionalsRequired Qualifications and SkillsExperience working with children or young people (educational setting preferred)Understanding of SEN and inclusive education principlesPatience, resilience, and adaptabilityStrong communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to build positive relationships with challenging studentsTeam player with a proactive approachLevel 2 English and Mathematics (GCSE grade C / 4 or equivalent)Desirable QualificationsNVQ Level 2 / 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalentExperience working with students with SEMH / SEND needsTraining in de-escalation techniques and positive behaviour managementWhat We OfferCompetitive salary based on experience and qualificationsOngoing professional development opportunities - free access to The National College once registered with TradewindTerm-time working hours - with the options of opting into holiday pay scheme Rewarding career making a meaningful difference to young livesSafeguardingOur school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
