Around since , SAMH is Scotland’s national mental health charity. We have represented the voice of people most affected by mental health problems in Scotland for almost years. Today, in over 60 communities we work with adults and young people providing mental health social care support, services in primary care, schools and further education, among others.

These services together with our national programme work in See Me, respectme, suicide prevention and active living; inform our policy and campaign work to influence positive social change. SAMH is dedicated to mental health and wellbeing for all : with a vision of a society where people are able to live their lives fully, regardless of present or past circumstances.

Hours : 24 hrs per week

Salary : £24, per annum (pro rata) (salary point 10 – 13)

Contract : FTC until 30 / 11 / 25

About the Role

Redhall is a mental health service based in an award winning walled garden / six acre estate in Edinburgh. In a beautiful outdoor setting we promote recovery from mental ill health through therapeutic horticulture including organic gardening, conservation and team working. There is a strong group work emphasis, staff work with the people attending our service to develop and maintain the garden, plant nursery and estate which is open to the public on weekdays and occasional weekends.

The Administrative Assistant will be responsible for a wide range of administrative and office support activities across the services working within a fast paced environment to ensure systems are maintained in an effective, up to date and accurate manner. As the first point of contact for many with the service you will provide a welcoming and helpful response to phone calls, emails and in person visits to the garden. You will support Service Manager, Team Leader, staff team, trainees and visitors with requests for practical, logistic and administrative support. You will support the team to create and maintain efficient systems and processes for referrals, key working of existing service users, evaluation of impact and reporting to funders. You will support the Service Manager with finance tasks, processing of invoices and petty cash processes.

What we are looking for

We are looking for someone with experience in clerical, secretarial or administrative work. Administration or similar qualifications are desirable. Strong communication skills with a kind and compassionate manner is essential. Understanding of the impact of poor mental health is desirable.
