Job summary

Are you a registered Nurse or AHP - a dietitian or pharmacist maybe with considerable experience of diabetes and multiple long-term conditions, and passionate about clinical care and education?

Are you looking for a new challenge within diabetes and long-term condition management?

Looking for part timework, alongside your clinical role?

Keen to enhance your clinical practice with education, training, and mentorship?

Come and work within an award-winning team, Eden at Leicester Diabetes Centre designing and delivering education locally, nationally, and internationally.

Share your clinical experience to help improve patient care and support health care professionals to improve their knowledge and confidence in diabetes care and join us as we transform clinical care with exciting new projects.

The successful applicant will have substantial clinical experience and knowledge of diabetes along with other associated long-term conditions. Experience in teaching and education and facilitation would be advantageous.

EDEN (Effective Diabetes Education Now) has grown rapidly over 12 years, and is commissioned locally, nationally, and internationally by organisations wishing to transform diabetes care for their patients. EDEN is an NHS organisation which is part of the Leicester Diabetes Centre, University of Leicester, and University Hospitals Leicester NHS Trust.

Main duties of the job

We have an exciting opportunity to join a supportive, forward-thinking team. The successful applicant will provide clinical knowledge and expertise as a resource for development, and be involved in reviewing, developing, and delivering of existing and new training programmes. There is opportunity to work alongside leading clinical and research experts to shape and tailor innovative new projects and transform diabetes care and service.

    Job responsibilities

    The Leicester Diabetes Centre has three overarching aims : Education, Innovation and Research. The centre undertakes a wide range of commercial and non-commercial research projects, including drug trials, lifestyle studies and large randomised controlled trials for the prevention and screening of diabetes. We are one of the largest diabetes groups globally and hold several prestigious awards. We have been awarded accreditation as an education institute from the International Diabetes Federation. The education team is committed to enhancing skills of healthcare professionals caring for people living with diabetes and reducing variations in care.

    Education, Training & Qualifications

  • A degree or equivalent.
  • Recognised professional registration or substantial experience in a relevant area.
  • Experience

  • At least 3 years' experience working within the field of chronic disease including diabetes.
  • Experience of working within the field of research and audit.
  • Experience of teaching staff, students and patients.
