Job Title : Behaviour Support Assistant (Primary School)
Reports To : Behaviour Support Coordinator / SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) / Headteacher
Position Summary :
The Behaviour Support Assistant (BSA) in a primary school setting is responsible for supporting students who exhibit challenging behaviours, helping them engage positively with their education. The role involves working closely with teachers, support staff, and parents to implement behaviour management strategies, provide one-on-one or small group support, and foster a safe, inclusive, and productive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities :
Student Support :
Provide direct support to students with behavioural challenges, helping them stay on task and manage their emotions.
Classroom Assistance :
Support teachers in managing classroom behaviour, including intervening when necessary to de-escalate situations.
Collaboration and Communication :
Collaborate with teachers, SENCO, and other staff members to develop and implement strategies for managing challenging behaviours.
Positive School Environment :
Promote a positive, inclusive school culture that encourages respect, responsibility, and kindness among all students.
Professional Development :
Attend training sessions, workshops, and staff meetings to enhance knowledge and skills in behaviour management.
Qualifications : Education :
A high school diploma or equivalent is required; additional qualifications or certifications in education, child development, or behaviour management are preferred.
Skills and Abilities :
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
Experience :
Previous experience working with children in an educational setting is required, particularly with those who have behavioural or special educational needs.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
