Patient administration underpins the patient journey, supports clinical teams in delivering high quality patient care and can make a real difference to the patient experience. Effective and efficient patient administration supports management through ensuring a high standard of data quality and by making the best use of capacity and resources. The Medical Secretarial Assistant is a vital part of effective patient administration.
Main duties of the job
Assists and supports the medical secretaries in providing an efficient medical secretarial service for the clinical team.Assists and supports the medical secretaries in achieving targets including CQUINs and validation.Assists and supports the Elective Access Clerk to provide an administrative service to the patient which supports the achievement of nationally and locally agreed access standards.Provides cover for colleagues in their absence to maintain service levels.Person specification
Qualifications
Typing and or Word / Text Processing SkillsGCSE English Grade C or equivalentWord processing & audio skills to RSA II or equivalent4 GCSE C or equivalentBusiness Admin NVQ II or equivalentPrevious Experience
Previous experience in office environment.Some knowledge of medical terminologyNHS experienceAbility to complete tasks accurately and efficiently.Ability to work on own initiative and prioritise workload to achieve deadlines.Good written and verbal communication skills.Ability and confidence to communicate at all levels.Competent Microsoft Word User.Ability to operate office equipment, e.g. Fax, Photocopier.Specific Requirements
