Job description

Job summary

The team is based at The Redwoods Centre in Shrewsbury and provides mental health assessment, treatment and support to people in Shropshire. As an integral team in the Urgent Care Pathway we work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We work with people who are experiencing a mental health crisis, require extra support alongside their regular support network or who can have the same treatment provided at home that they would receive in a Mental Health Hospital.

We are a team that consists of Band 5 and 6 Nurses, Band 3 Support Workers, Non-Medical Prescribers, Medical Staff, Occupational Therapists, Administrators and Business Support Staff. As we work with people with all types of mental health presentations, we need to have a range of skills and interests that create a strong and responsive team.

Main duties of the job

Community Support Workers

Working in a multi-disciplinary team and in partnership with internal and external agencies, you will;

  • To provide support, and spend therapeutic time with an allocated group of service users with mental health needs.
  • To promote service-users recovery and to assist them to maintain their place in the community or manage transitions between services.
  • To assist the Shift co-ordinator / Lead Professional to plan, implement and evaluate individualised care plans .

  • Advanced Apprenticeship in (Mental) Health and Social Care Or NVQ 3 in (Mental) Health and Social Care with demonstrable evidence of numeracy and literacy skills (equivalent GCSE's or Functional Skills)
