Position : SEND Teaching Assistant

Location : Southend-On-Sea

Contract Type : Full-Time / Part-Time

Salary : Competitive, dependent on experience

About the Role :

We are seeking caring and enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistants to join our Secondary Schools in the Southend and surrounding areas. As a key member of staff, you will work closely with teachers to provide one-on-one or group support to students, helping them to overcome learning barriers and achieve their academic and personal goals.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Provide tailored support to SEND students in a classroom setting or through one-on-one interventions
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Support students with emotional, social, and behavioural difficulties
  • Foster a positive, inclusive learning environment for all students
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external professionals to ensure the best outcomes for each student
  • Encourage student independence and confidence in their learning journey

Requirements :

  • Experience working with SEND students in a school setting (desired but not essential)
  • A genuine passion for helping students with additional needs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patience, empathy, and adaptability to meet individual student needs
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently
  • Relevant qualifications such as Level 2 / 3 Teaching Assistant or SEND training (preferred but not essential)
