Key skills required for this role

Our client, a key player in the Defence & Security sector, is currently seeking a Windows Engineer for a contract role based in Marlow. This position entails the development and certification of a new IT infrastructure to meet the stringent requirements set by the US Department of Defense (DoD). The focus will be on achieving Cyber Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) Level 2 for handling Confidential Unclassified Information (CUI).

Key Responsibilities :

  • Design and build a segregated IT environment to handle CUI data
  • Implement all elements of CMMC version 2 Level 2 controls, practices, procedures, and documentation
  • Develop a System Security Plan (SSP) for each CUI system including Active Directory, WSUS, and File Server
  • Configure RSA MFA for Windows logons at the Username & Password screen
  • Create a new Active Directory for around 40 devices initially
  • Set up Group Policies including password policies
  • Ensure data ingress into the enclave from corporate IT systems, with no outgoing data
  • Set up a virtualised hosting environment using Microsoft Hyper-V
  • Deploy a VDI solution, likely based on Citrix, with Dell Thin Clients for on-site manufacturing
  • Ensure scalability through the use of a HP MSA 2000 series SAN or Dell equivalent
  • Implement an on-site disk-to-disk backup with a tape drive for off-site storage

Job Requirements :

  • Experience in designing and implementing IT infrastructures
  • Understanding of Cyber Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) and Confidential Unclassified Information (CUI) handling
  • Knowledge of NIST SP 800-171 and NIST SP 800-172 practices
  • Proficiency with Microsoft AppLocker, Hyper-V, and Active Directory setup
  • Experience with RSA MFA, Citrix VDI solutions, and virtualised environments
  • Ability to develop and document System Security Plans (SSP)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
