Job summary

The postholder will work as part of an integrated network of dedicated professionals, supporting parents to make positive changes in relation to substance misuse. As part of this role, you will be working in our new Family Safeguarding Model, providing support and advice to families and parents who are experiencing difficulties due to substance misuse.

Main duties of the job

As a Family Worker, you will offer interventions to support parents with substance misuse issues, whilst working to raise awareness of and improve access to appropriate services, with a focus on using Motivational Interviewing techniques. You will provide ongoing support through 1 : 1 or group sessions. It will be vital for you to develop strong and positive relationships with clients and their families, whilst managing an active caseload and ensuring continuity of care.

Job responsibilities

Our Wigan & Leigh service are recruiting for a compassionate and approachable Family Worker, to provide information and advice to parents in relation to substance misuse and its impact on themselves and their family. If you are looking for a role where you will make a tangible difference to the lives of those affected by substance misuse, we'd love to hear from you. The role will be based in one of our Family Hubs. Our Family Safeguarding Teams are co-located multidisciplinary teams consisting of social work professionals and adult workers. Their aim is to work collaboratively with families, at the right time, respecting families' rights, following guidance and law. They take a whole family approach to child protection to keep more children safely at home with their families. You will have demonstrable experience of working in the health, social care or family setting, with the ability to connect quickly with clients and families. It is important that you are self-motivated and resilient, as well as comfortable working alone and on a one to one basis. Working knowledge of substance misuse would be advantageous but we are open to conversations with all applicants who have a passion for working with families. Above all, we are looking for someone who is empathetic and values-driven and has the drive to make real changes, using a positive and engaging approach. This is a great opportunity to join an exciting new team who will lead on supporting parents with their drug and alcohol issues at WithYou. The working hours for this role will be Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm. Access to a vehicle is preferred. Benefits

  • supporting your colleagues across the service to deliver excellent care
  • Ideally you will have experience of working in a health and social care, substance misuse or family setting. We are looking for positive and motivated candidates who are able to communicate with a wide range of people and in different settings.
