Higher Level Teaching Assistant

Tradewind Recruitment are working with a wonderful school in Sutton, who are looking for a competent Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join their team to work with children in Key Stage 3 and 4. The school are looking for a HLTA on a long-term basis with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate. The role will be full-time, working Monday-Friday within class.

In this role, your key responsibilities as a HLTA will be based in and around the classroom, supporting the class teacher. This will include making sure correct behaviour is adhered to at all times, working with small groups and 1 : 1 intervention. A successful candidate will also be required to cover classes in the absence of a class teacher as well as plan and run their own interventions with specific groups of children. A sound knowledge of the curriculum will be needed, as well as a good knowledge of strategies to best support SEMH children.

The school are looking for a candidate who :

• Has the relevant degree or HLTA qualification?
• Has 1 year experience within an education setting
• Experience in Key Stage 2 (years 3-6)
• Understand various SEN needs!
• Experience working 1 : 1.
• Has a sound working knowledge of the National Curriculum?
• Can effectively build relationships with children quickly.
