Qualified Practice Accountant (AAT or Equivalent)

South Oxfordshire

Permanent, Full-Time

Salary : £30,000 - £40,000 per annum

Puro Associates are excited to be representing this fantastic practice on their search for a qualified and experienced Practice Accountant to join their well-established team in South Oxfordshire. This is an excellent opportunity for someone to take on a varied and rewarding role, managing a diverse portfolio of clients while working in a supportive and friendly environment.

About the Role

The successful candidate will support clients by delivering professional accountancy services to owner-managed businesses. You will be responsible for assisting in the growth of the client portfolio and ensuring the delivery of high-quality accounting services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of clients, ranging from small business owners to medium-sized companies.
  • Work with a variety of accounting software packages.
  • Prepare and review management and year-end accounts for companies, partnerships, and sole traders.
  • Improve working papers, accounts checklists, and review client systems for anti-money laundering reporting compliance.
  • Handle personal and business tax duties.
  • Prepare VAT calculations and returns (flat rate, cash, or accrual basis).
  • Meet and liaise with clients, both in person and remotely, regarding year-end and management accounts and other queries.
  • Support staff with queries related to client account preparation and other practice matters.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will have :

  • AAT or equivalent qualification (essential).
  • Previous experience working in a practice environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong accounts preparation skills and a solid understanding of UK financial reporting requirements.
  • Knowledge of Corporation Tax and Income Tax.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • A methodical and practical approach, with a high level of attention to detail.
  • A self-motivated and proactive attitude.
  • A full driving license and access to your own vehicle (the office is not easily accessible by public transport).
  • Additional Information

    Some flexibility with working arrangements is available, though a regular presence in the office is encouraged.
