About the Role
We are looking for an Assistant to support our Group Crane Manager, based at our Headquarters at Heage. This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week.
Duties of the Role :
The Bowmer + Kirkland Group Crane Manager procures orders and co-ordinates the installation and other associated works of around :
- 20 / 25 tower cranes per year
- 20 / 25 construction hoists
- 50 / 60 Mast climbers
The assistant role will assist with the day-to-day management of around £6m turnover of work per annum.
The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate that they would be capable of initially following some training undertake the procurement and remote management of all construction hoists, whilst assisting with the procurement of mast climbers and cranes.
The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate the ability to work with the teams to see the successful installation of plant including the following tasks :
Selection of plant with site teamPlacing order with supplierCo-ordinating delivery to suit site programmeCo-ordinate temporary connectionsAttend site for hoist installs familiarise site teams with hoist proceduresReceive invoices check and processSingle point of contact for hoist suppliers and likewise back up for site teams to deal with any issues arising during the hireUsing third party supply chains to operate and supervise cranes – we currently have 25 operatives working with 16 tower cranes.
Candidate will be taking on co-ordination of these operatives including new sites and holiday / sick cover.
Crane Safety Audits
These are undertaken quarterly (15 cranes x 4 quarters = 60 crane audits per year) these are undertaken by a third party, the job would include :
Shadow / support Auditors on occasionCollate and process invoicesReceive audits and distribute to Safety advisorsChase and close out actions and issue closed out auditsCollate quarterly reportsFamiliarisation / Site Support
Set up / print and populate the 3 crane folders
Training to take over the familiarisation day with the crane folders / procedures
Other duties
We annually quote for in excess of 150 cranes issuing info to suppliers for quoting for Cranes, chase return of quote and issue to Estimator / Planner / Quantity Surveyor.
Work would include :
Scheme developmentAppraisal / site visits.BAPA paperwork submittals with site teamsAssist sites with completion of SPF forms (for cranes as per current and new procedures for Mast climbers and hoists once in place)Weekend cover for E and D of cranesE and D surveys with crane suppliersSupplier visits / auditsCivil aviation point of contactFuture projects
Hook cam – cradle to grave (hire and management of from 3rd party supplier)Security monitoring of cranes (hire and management of from 3rd party supplier)Potential to extend familiarisation / audit to hoists and mast climbersAdmin :
