BUSINESS FUNCTION : Strategic Development

ROLE TYPE : Hybrid

LOCATION : Leeds / York / Manchester

HOURS : 37 per week

Ready to shape the future of rail control Join us as an ETCS Engineer and become our inhouse expert on the European Train Control System. Youll lead design pack reviews for standards compliance work with suppliers and oversee change management processes to keep our projects on track. From initial design through to fitment sign off rigorous testing and business preparation with operational teams. Youll play a pivotal role in delivering a safe reliable ETCS across a number of fleets.

In this proactive role youll also develop maintenance procedures and training guides support wider rolling stock strategy initiatives and collaborate with programme leads to plan monitor and optimise delivery and performance across multiple projects. This will mean travelling across our network and occasionally abroad to visit suppliers. What youll be doing :

  • Leading ETCS design reviews ensuring compliance with standards and supporting Engineering Change processes
  • Managing ETCS implementation : fitment sign off documentation updates and verification testing with operations teams
  • Developing maintenance systems MMI guides and faultfinding procedures to boost certification reliability and team capability
  • Supporting rollingstock strategy projects (including TRU) optimising resource plans and challenging programme assumptions
  • Collaborating crossfunctionally to monitor progress report slippage highlight risks / opportunities and drive continuous improvement
  • Providing expert engineering advice governance and escalation support for ETCS programmes and introducing best practice planning tools
  • Acting as the key interface between Engineering and business projects shaping plans managing dependencies and engaging stakeholders

About you :

  • Degree qualified (or equivalent) in electronics systems engineering or a related field
  • Proven track record delivering complex safety critical projects in regulated environments
  • Strong faultfinding mindset with thorough project documentation skills
  • Excellent communicator and influencer able to challenge constructively at all levels
  • Selfstarter with the judgment to make day to day decisions and escalate strategic risks appropriately
  • Experience in the rail industry (or similar regulated sectors) with tenacity to drive long term strategies
  • Ability to translate broad project concepts into detailed achievable plans and deliver against them
