Road Safety Technician

Contract : Essex Highways

Location : Ardleigh

Contract Type : Permanent

Are you driven by a passion for education and making a tangible impact on community safety? We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Road Safety Technician to be a vital part of our Road Safety team. In this dynamic role, you will spearhead initiatives to reduce road casualties across Essex by developing and supporting innovative educational programmes and interventions. Collaborating closely with schools, local councils, and strategic partners, you will champion road safety awareness and implement best practices to make our roads safer for everyone.

The Role

  • Work as part of a road safety interventions delivery team providing education and awareness raising interventions to both children and adults.
  • Work closely with partners and stakeholders by providing public facing interventions to support agreed activities to maximise the success of enforcement and road safety campaigns.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of the road safety interventions. Monitor delivery of targets of SERP delivery plan.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative links with other agencies, interest groups, businesses, schools, colleges and other educational establishments, agencies dealing with people not in education, training or employment, and those involved with disadvantaged and vulnerable communities to develop strong partnerships for targeted road casualty reduction.
  • Contribute to the development of appropriate educational materials, including literature and other promotional / engagement aids, to support the partnership.

About You

  • Educated to RQF Level 3 (‘A’ level) or equivalent by experience in Highways.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development and knowledge in relevant professional area. Membership of, or working towards, a relevant Professional Institution is desirable.
  • Knowledge and application of Essex Highway and Health and Safety regulations.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders and people both internally and externally.
  • Knowledge and understanding of educational and evaluation techniques
